So that's the height i used on my bench. increase or decrease the length of the legs on your workbench to adjust the height of the work surface to match your wrist crease measurement. if you're 5'10" or taller, you may find a wrist crease measurement of 35" to 37".. New woodworking bench – adjustable height legs most commercial workbench product has fixed legs. in the other words, the workers that might have difference in weight are forced to fit into the bench height.. That would be a luxury, but from the response to the bench height questionnaire it does seem that 38″ suited most woodworkers if average height around 5’10” and actually suited a wider height range of between the height of 5’8″ and 5’11”..

Hi ron, in all honesty i prefer a taller bench, as it helps avoid back fatigue when working for long periods. for myself (standing at 6’2″) this means a working surface at 39″ (belt buckle/just below belly button height in my case), but there’s no one size fits all or regulation height that everyone can work to.. You don't need a tape measure (i.e. numerical dimensions) to size a workbench. you just need you!. Michael dresdner: the right bench height involves both the height of the person working at it and the work that will be done on it. for example, guitar workbenches are adjusted so the top of the guitar is at a comfortable working height when held in its vise..
